User-centered research that redirected a major product investment.
Context
At a low-code development platform, the product team needed to decide whether to prioritize the development of a new monitoring feature. There was a lack of systematic research to understand if this was the right investment.
Objective
Identify user needs, pain points, and expectations around application monitoring to guide product roadmap decisions and feature prioritization.
Approach
•Kick-off and alignment with stakeholders to define goals, success metrics, risks, and constraints
•Certainties, Assumptions, and Doubts (CAD) Matrix to structure research questions
•In-depth interviews with 11 enterprise clients, focusing on monitoring workflows, pain points, and key metrics
•Triangulation with internal teams and user community feedback to validate findings
Outcomes
The research helped the product manager make an informed decision not to invest in a new standalone monitoring tool, but to focus on enhancing current capabilities. This approach aligned better with user needs while optimizing development efforts.
My Role
Led the research end-to-end, including planning, execution, stakeholder alignment, and delivery of insights. Worked closely with product, commercial, customer service, and design teams.
"Even though diving into a new and complex area, you consistently showed an admirable willingness to learn and evolve. Your thorough analysis of the research interviews significantly contributed to refining the problem definition. Your valuable inputs during the interviews were highly appreciated."
